The Workmans Club brings together two Donegal acts,The Henry Girls and the Finbarr Doherty Band,both performing from their new albums.

We are delighted to share this double header at The Workmans Club in Dublin with our long time friend and fellow Inishowenian Finbarr ‘The Saddler’ Doherty. Finbarr will be performing songs from his new album Skyscrapers with his band, Billy Robinson, Gary Raymond, Kate O’Callaghan and Seamus Devenny.

“…It fuses elements of folk and indie rock from both sides of the Atlantic, on introspective songs that embrace brevity as a rule of thumb except on the bluesy Don’t break up. One song even bizarrely namechecks English soccer team West Bromwich Albion in its title.”

Launched this summer as part of the Galway Arts Festival and the Earagail Arts Festival Finbarr Doherty’s new album ‘Skyscrapers’ was performed alongside Boston-based band Session Americana. The songs cover topics from selling skyscrapers to leaving behind a broken heart on a cheap Spanish holiday. Musicians on the album Campbell Owens, Liam Bradley, Seamus Devenny, Jennifer Kimball, Ry Cavanaugh, Kate O’Callaghan and Karen & Lorna McLaughlin.

His earlier music career saw him as lead singer/composer with the 33^rd Hurricane (See Fanning Sessions). CDs included ‘Shotgun Blast’, distributed by EMI. www.finbarrmusic.com

We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone at the Temple Bar Trad fest in Dublin. We had a fantastic weekend with such a great variety of concerts and audiences and we would like to thank everyone who came out to see us play (especially the little ones on Sunday at The Ark-by far the highlight of the weekend!!!!)

We are now getting ready to start the next leg of our Irish Tour which starts in one of our favourite venues-An Grianan Theatre, Letterkenny, Co.Donegal on Saturday 4th February at 8pm with a high quality line up of great local musicians and our very special guests The Inishowen Gospel Choir. December Moon – Album launch party

This Friday 4th Nov 2011 we will be having a party to celebrate the launch of our new album December Moon, which is available to buy from itunes and here. The album has so far been really well received and has been getting national and international airplay with great reviews from Irish Music Magazine and Music Review Unsigned. The launch party will also mark the beginning of a new Live Music Series that has been set up by Mark Patterson of BBC Radio Foyle, Northern Ireland and Bennigans Bar in Derry, Northern Ireland.

Our performance will be the first in the Bennigans Live series of acoustic, original music – find it on facebook for upcoming gigs! We will be joined on the night by Ted Ponsonby on Dobro and Guitar, Denise Boyle on Fiddle, Viola and Mandolin, Matt Jennings and Sean McCarron on Saxophones and Todd Gfeller on Percussion. And special guest to start the night off will be Rainy Boy Sleep. Thanks to Joe at Bennigans and Mark at BBC Foyle for asking us to launch this new music night as well as our new album.

Heading to Galway to play at Clifden Arts Festival (www.clifdenartsweek.ie) on Friday night at Mullarkey’s Bar/Foyle’s Hotel, and then on to Newtownards this Saturday night where we will be special guests of legendary folk singer Cara Dillon at the Festival of the Peninsula. (www.festivalofthepeninsula.info). Hope to see some of yees out there!
